Behind Pyr are we, Studio Tabo, a duo of industrial designers with a passion for Scandinavian form and sustainable lighting. Our studio is a place where traditional craftsmanship meets innovative technology, and each lamp is designed and produced with precision in our own built machines.
Our lamps can not only be seen in homes but also in public spaces, and in addition to our collection we create custom lighting for restaurants, hotels and bars. There we collaborate with architects, interior design agencies and restaurants to develop unique lighting solutions - from concept and drawing to finished lamp. Our lamps illuminate a bunch of Stockholm's cozy meeting places, such as Bröd & Salt, Pat's Place and Acaza, with special solutions for, among others, RestaurangHimlen in Stockholm and Hotel Rumour in Leiden, NL.

From forest to light, the beginning of our journey
The story of Pyr began one autumn day in a mushroom forest outside Gävle. We were looking for funnel chanterelles and found inspiration. It was during our last year of design education and we were thinking about an assignment where we would explore the interaction between light and shadow in lighting design.
At the same time, we had come into contact with a material that piqued our curiosity: a biocomposite made from forest raw materials. Formable, lightweight and with the ability to let light through in a warm, glowing, almost magical way, and that became the starting point.
Our very first design “Fungk” was the most intricate. Inspired by the funnel chanterelle, we let the light flow through the narrow neck before breaking over the edge, casting soft shadows and creating a playful, warm play of light. There was a natural attraction to it, a feeling of being drawn towards the light, like to a fire. For us it was obvious, more people should experience it, and we wanted to share it.
Light that lasts
Pyr means long-lasting glow, just like our lamps. With timeless design, high quality and minimal environmental impact, we create lighting from a well-thought-out and conscious process.
